Did you know 1 in 3 Canadians will experience mental illness in their lifetime? Mental Illness Awareness Week is a public awareness campaign that aims to create important dialogue about the realities of mental health and mental illness.
Mental illness can be treated effectively, but societal stigmas present a challenging barrier to diagnosis, treatment, and acceptance. By sharing the real faces and stories of some of the thousands of Canadians living with mental illness, we encourage the conversations that help break down these stigmas.
The Canadian Alliance on Mental Illness and Mental Health (CAMIMH) shares some of these stories through the “Faces of Mental Illness” campaign. You can read more on the CAMIMH website.
