Leduc Trustee Lamer elected as Board Chair and Wetaskiwin Trustee Effon Vice Chair

Leduc — St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Schools’ Board of Trustees has selected Leduc Trustee Michelle Lamer as its Board Chair.

The selection was made at the Board’s organizational meeting Monday, October 23, 2017, following the recent Board of Trustees election. Lamer is serving her second term as trustee.

“I am honoured by the support given to me by my fellow trustees as I take on the role of Board Chair. We have a new Board with some new voices around the table, combined with an exciting time of growth for the Division, I truly look forward to what is ahead for STAR Catholic, as we continue to strengthen the valuable gift of Catholic education in our communities,” said Lamer. “As this new Board beings its work, I want to thank our outgoing trustees for their invaluable service to STAR Catholic, which has brought the Division so much success.”

Mrs. Lamer and her family have resided in Leduc since 1999 and attend St. Michael Parish, where she is an active member of the Catholic Women’s League. Lamer served on various Board committees during her first term on STAR Catholic.

Wetaskiwin Trustee Henry Effon was selected as STAR Catholic’s Vice Chair. Effon is in his second term as STAR Catholic trustee.

The Board also selected members for its various committees, including: policy, labour, and long range planning.

STAR Catholic’s Board is served by seven trustees representing six communities: Board Chair and Leduc Trustee Michelle Lamer, Board Vice Chair and Wetaskiwin Trustee Henry Effon, Drayton Valley Trustee Sandra Bannard, Leduc Trustee Shaun Meaden, Beaumont Trustee Liz Taylor-Sirois, Ponoka Trustee Dan Svitich, and Lacombe Trustee Donna Tugwood.

Meeting schedules were also set, as STAR Catholic’s regular monthly meetings will be every third Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.
