St. Thomas Aquinas Roman (STAR) Catholic School Division is looking for two members at large to sit on the Audit Committee.
The Audit Committee is a Committee of the Board of Trustees and consists of all trustees and, under s.142 of the Education Act, two members at large who are not trustees.
The Audit Committee assists the Board in fulfilling its oversight responsibility for reliable financial reporting, effective internal controls and compliance with legislation and regulatory requirements.
Audit Committee meetings are expected to consist of 2 half-day commitments, generally evenings, with the potential for additional meetings.
The preferred candidates for this Committee position will be supporters of Catholic education and, ideally, candidates will have accounting experience or an accounting designation. Compensation is provided in accordance with Board Policy 7, Appendix B – Trustee Honoraria and Expense Schedule. Both members at large will be required to adhere to the Code of Conduct/Honorariums – Public Committee Members (Policy 8 – Appendix B).
