Municipal Land Annex Will Not Impact Educational Boundaries for 2019-2020

Posted

Recent changes to the boundaries of two municipalities within STAR Catholic School Division will not affect educational boundaries for the 2019-2020 school year.

On January 1, 2019, the City of Edmonton annexed land from Leduc County and the City of Beaumont. This land includes households with STAR Catholic students. Those students will be eligible to attend their designated school this September and continue to access busing services provided by STAR Catholic as well as those provided in partnership with Black Gold Regional School Division.

As instructed by the Minister of Education, officials from the school divisions and Alberta Education are in discussions to align educational boundaries to the new municipal boundaries for September 2020.

STAR Catholic will continue to communicate educational boundary developments as they arise. In the meantime, any questions can be directed to Secretary-Treasurer Ed Latka at secretary-treasurer@starcatholic.ab.ca or 780.986.2500.

You can read more about the municipal land annex on the City of Edmonton's website.
