AHS raising awareness through Mental Health Series in October

For the month of October, STAR Catholic School Division supports Alberta Health Services in raising more awareness to mental health. For this first post AHS looks at how Language Matters.
Use positive & respectful language, and avoid labels.
| Instead of: | Try: |
| She's bipolar | Person with bipolar disorder |
| Schizophrenic | Person with schizophrenia |
| The mentally ill | People with mental illness |
| Committed suicide | Died by suicide |
Avoid labels such as: Challenged, Psycho, Crazy, Special, Demented, Sufferer, Normal/Not normal, Schizo.
