Leduc Busing FAQs

Busing Questions – Resulting from Changes in the Father Leduc, Notre Dame & St. Benedict  Designated School Boundaries

What grades will attend Father Leduc, St. Bens and Notre Dame in September 2016?

1. Father Leduc will be temporarily housed in Notre Dame School building in September 2016 until the new school construction is complete.

2. Father Leduc will open with Kindergarten to Grade 6 in September, 2016, then increase to Grade 7 in September 2017 and in 2018 will offer Grade 8.

3. Notre Dame School will remain Kindergarten to Grade 6, and will add a French Immersion track for Kindergarten and Grade 1.

4. St. Benedict School will remain Kindergarten to Grade 6.

Are French Immersion students subject to bus fees?

Any student living in Leduc or in formed areas in Leduc County and enrolled in French Immersion and living over 2.4 kms from Notre Dame will receive bussing at no cost.

Any student living in Leduc and enrolled in French Immersion and living less than 2.4 kms from Notre Dame are subject to the regular bussing fee rates.

Are French Immersion students living in Leduc County subject to Black Gold busing fees?

There will be no change in practice from the 2015-2016 school year.

Black Gold School Division will continue to charge bussing fees for any student living in Leduc County and attending a STAR Catholic school if that family is residing outside of STAR’s formed boundaries, regardless of whether they are enrolled in French Immersion or not.

Will non-French Immersion students living in Southfork and Corinthia who register at Father Leduc receive busing?

As part of the transition, buses will be available free of charge from Southfork and Corinthia to Notre Dame from September 2016 to students registered at Father Leduc until the new school opens in Southfork.

Once Father Leduc opens in Southfork, busing from Southfork and Corinthia to Notre Dame will cease.

Once the new school opens in Southfork, those students residing in Southfork and Corinthia wishing to have transportation to the new Father Leduc School will need to complete a second bussing request form and be subject to a pro-rated bus fee if living less than 2.4 kms from Father Leduc.

Will busing be available for non-French Immersion students living in Southfork and Corinthia who wish to attend Notre Dame, rather than their designated school of Father Leduc?

Father Leduc is the new designated school for Southfork and Corinthia.

Notre Dame School would be considered a school of choice and we do not provide transportation for school of choice.

When will parents who are subject to busing fees be required to pay these fees?

As part of the transition, and for non-French Immersion students, families who reside in Southfork and Corinthia and who will be attending Father Leduc, and are subject to bus fees will not be required to pay bus fees until the opening of Father Leduc at their new site.

The fees will be prorated to the remaining months of the school year.  For instance, when Father Leduc opens in January 2017, the bus fees will be prorated for the remaining six months in the school year and parents will be charged only 6/10 of the annual bus fee.

Our designated school has been changed from St. Benedict to Notre Dame. Will I continue to receive busing to St. Benedict.

St. Benedict School would now be your school of choice and we do not bus to school of choice.

Notre Dame is your new designated school and busing will be provided free if your distance is 2.4 kms or greater, and if you reside less than 2.4 kms busing will be available subject to payment of busing fees.
